For a long time forgotten, the Camelina, also called Leindotter, has now been rediscovered. Already in the Celtic times the aromatic crucifer was an important oil supplier: fine in the taste and long lasting. The Camelina plant with its tender stalks and tiny seeds grows today in controlled organic mixed cultivation in Styria, Burgenland, Upper and Lower Austria and Carinthia.
Camelina oil is also known as gold-of-pleasure oil. It is characterized by its aromatic flavor with a delicate hint of garlic. It is a refined seasoning that pairs excellently with vegetables. In addition, camelina oil also boasts an outstanding fatty acid ratio. This high-quality oil should ideally be stored in the fridge and should not be heated to high temperatures.
