The mulberry tree (botanical name: Morus) is one of the oldest cultivated plants and with the fig it belongs to the mulberry plants (Moraceae). The two best known species in Europe are: white mulberry and black mulberry. For the ancient Persians, the white mulberries were considered a symbol of wisdom. Due to their nutritional value, the Arabs call the dried white mulberries “bread of the desert”. The intensive fruity-sweet flavor makes the dried mulberries perfect for snacking, but they contain fewer calories than chocolate. Particularly delicious taste the dried mulberries with yoghurt and honey, a real treat!
